Health and Safety Audits - What Next?

Friday February 10, 2017 14:48

In recent years, many of Securo’s clients have participated in the ACC WSMP and WSD certification process.  In 2016 ACC announced that these programmes would cease in March 2017 and so many clients have been re-audited to ensure that the ACC Certification would last until June 2019, depending on your most recent audit date, at which point the programme and the associated ACC Levy discounts will cease for both programmes.

The reasons for participating in the ACC programmes have been many;

  • To create a safer workplace
  • To demonstrate to clients and prospective clients a commitment to Health & Safety
  • To meet the requirements of owners and / or shareholders
  • To demonstrate a commitment to the general public
  • Lastly, to receive a reduction in ACC Levy’s

Since the introduction of the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015, there has been a much greater focus on points two and three above.  The number of companies wanting their suppliers & contractors to be able to demonstrate their level of Health and Safety competence and commitment has grown significantly.

We want to assure you that at Securo, it is our intention to continue to provide a viable and recognised Audit programme which will provide these benefits and act as a management tool for meeting your organisations Health & Safety obligations.

We are investigating a number of options and intend to announce our decision in the second quarter, as to which certification programme Securo will offer.

If you are currently participating in any other audit programmes we would be interested to hear back from you, these could include:

  • ISO 9001, 14001 etc
  • AS/NZ 4801
  • BS OSHAS 18001
  • Others ??

Please note, Securo will soon be launching an online Contractor PreQual System, final testing by a group of clients is nearly completed, but more on this later.
