Peter Corkill

Peter is a proud Northland local, based in Whangarei Heads.

He is fully qualified in Occupational Health and Safety, with a Level 6 Diploma of OH&S, and a career spanning 40 years in a variety of industries and commercial sectors, including engineering, manufacturing and maritime.

Peter’s hands on experience includes on the job training in confined space entry, hazardous substance handling, and working at heights, as well as delivering training on these subjects for Safe Trades, Northtec.

Peter understands how establishing and maintaining an effective health and safety system can at times seem daunting and brings the right balance of expertise, common sense, practical advice, and efficient communication. 

Eta Lilic

Eta joined Securo in 2021 and has over 20 years’ experience in the Health and Safety field. She has led and managed health, safety and wellness in several industries building technical and operational solutions to reduce and eliminate risks. Eta has worked alongside Work Health Organization on their ‘Healthy Workplaces’ project.

Eta holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and is an NZISM Accredited Member.

Kenneth Hannon

Kenneth Hannon - COSH, PGDipQA, CME

Kenneth joined Securo in 2005. He is Securo’s business management systems specialist, with a strong manufacturing background and a proven track record in the areas of Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety Management Systems.

An excellent communicator with relationship building skills and a “hands on– keeping it simple” approach, who can make intelligent business focused improvement recommendations and provide support during periods of change.

  • Delivery of staff training modules in a variety of health and safety topics
  • Physical site audits against mandatory and best practice requirements.
  • Assisted in the achievement of ACC WSMP discounts with over 50 businesses at various levels of conformance.
  • Over 20 years proven experience in the arena of health and safety management

Roscoe Tait MNZM

Roscoe Tait MNZM joined Securo in 2009 having retired from Nuplex Industries after 25 years service, where he was the New Zealand Safety, Health and Environment Manager for the Nuplex NZ Group.

He is qualified with a BSc (Chemistry), BE (Chemical) and Member of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry [NZIC], Member New Zealand Safety Council [NZSC], Member of New Zealand Institute of Hazardous Substance Management [NZIHSM]. Roscoe has considerable knowledge and experience in Health & Safety and Environmental matters including:

  • ACC ESMP Programmes
  • Running H&S Programmes
  • Fire Protection Systems and Evacuations
  • Resource Management Issues
  • HSNO
  • Environmental Practices etc.
Mike Batty

Mike was previously employed by Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Limited in Auckland, New Zealand prior to taking early retirement after 23 years’ service with the company.

His role as Group Operations Manager reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, covered a wide range of products and services for the Fisher & Paykel Group, and across a large worldwide customer and supplier base. This involved Health & Safety requirements leading to achievement of the ACC Workplace Safety Management Practices at the Tertiary level and compliance to a large variety of international and regulatory standards.  This international relationship led to considerable involvement and experience in gaining various ISO standard certifications from overseas certification bodies, dealing with various governmental regulatory agencies and test houses.

As a qualified lead auditor and founding member of the Joint Accreditation Standard – Australia New Zealand Auditor Review Board (JAS-ANZ ARB), he has conducted and witnessed numerous audits of various types of organisations throughout Australasia, Europe and the US.

Mike is married with two children and enjoys fly-fishing, running and ballroom dancing.

John Riddell

John Riddell has been in the health and safety industry for over 20 years and has seen many positive changes in the sector during his career.

A passionate health and safety advocate his professional qualifications include: a Graduate Diploma in Professional Practice Occupational Health and Safety - GDPPOHS; NZQA Job Assessor standards 4098 & 11281; NZQA incident investigation 17601 and NZQA qualification US5619 - occupational health and safety management systems audit for a selected business operation.

John is a HASANZ Registered professional and a member of the NZ Institute of Safety Managers (Prof NZISM).  

Away from work John is heavily involved in his local community and is a past Chair of Keep New Zealand Beautiful and current Board member, a former Trustee of the Waitakere Licensing Trust, current member of the Community Organisation Grant Scheme (West Auckland Distribution Committee), Rotarian and Secretary of the Massey Birdwood Settlers Association.

A keen motorsport enthusiast and participant, John enjoys using motorsport as an example of the real benefits of tangible health and safety practices.

Paul Christiansen

Paul has over 20 years’ experience in the Health and Safety field, consulting widely on health and safety in the state and private sectors. He has led and managed health, safety and wellness in manufacturing, energy, health, aviation, construction, and aged care sectors, working with organisations large and small. He  provides practical guidance to businesses to ensure health and safety compliance, risks are identified and managed and the people’s wellbeing is assured.

His consulting experience includes supporting business with change and project management, including an extended period providing support to WorkSafe NZ.

Paul holds multiple Health and Safety and other professional qualifications and is an NZISM Accredited Member.

His areas of expertise span a wide range of health and safety specialties, including Health & Safety governance, risk management, incident management, internal and external audits , contractor management and pre-qualification, emergency response and business continuity planning, hazardous substances and asbestos management, training and employee engagement.

Gavin Lysaght

Gavin has been directly involved in management of Health & Safety since 1998 both for corporate and small to medium size businesses.  During this time, he has built up a large amount of expertise especially in manufacturing, transport & logistics, livestock & agriculture plus a large variety of small business operations from sole trader bobcat operators through to small hydro station and large workshop enterprises.

Prior to his involvement with H&S he trained as an automotive technician and was in the Police for 25 years dealing with and managing risk on a daily basis.  During his working life he has gained a huge amount of experience in the investigation of a large variety of incidents & events and is currently a practicing Justice of the Peace.

Still believing in those old school values of trust, loyalty & reliability Gavin brings a practical approach to the management of H&S once getting a good understanding of your operation.  He holds a diploma in H&S and outside work enjoys time with family, trying to stay fit with cycling & golf, plus travel & reading.

Kay Mead

Kay Mead joined Securo in September 2014. Kay has a wealth of business experience, specialising in Environment, Health, Safety and Risk advisory, management and governance roles in a wide range of manufacturing, community and project management areas.

Her strength of experience in mentoring, change management, health and safety leadership and behaviourally based initiatives support her client’s workplace focused safe outcomes.

Kay’s strengths in continuous development and innovation to deliver clearly focused systems design and consultative development assist businesses to achieve their health and safety goals.

She has extensive experience in ACC, environment, fire risk, HSNO, safety culture reviews, standards and permit to work audits.

Kay‘s sound hands on experience also includes injury prevention, injury rehabilitation, safe work practices, training, contractor management, reviews and investigations.

Steve Logan

With over 20 years senior Operations Management experience, Steve Logan has developed and delivered best practice safety programmes and processes which have achieved significant culture change and safety outcomes.

His qualifications include: HASANZ registered professional, Graduate membership of NZ Institute of Safety Management; Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety; Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), and a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering.

Steve’s practical credentials, which derive from many years at the coal face managing sites of up to 200 employees, are a unique blend of operational experience and health & safety specific skills.

Graham Mahuika

Graham hails from Kāti Māhaki ki Makaawhio on the West Coast of the South Island and started his working life as a forest worker, before enlisting in the NZ Army. Over the past 20 years he has held a number of senior consultant management roles.

His professional qualifications include NEBOSH International Diploma & Certificate (HSE), HSNO Approved Handler, ICAM Principal Investigator, Lead Auditor HSE Systems (OHSAS 18001), Lead Auditor Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001), Diplomas in Project Management & Management, Bachelor of Science (Security Management). He is also a HASANZ registered H&S professional.

As an experienced Quality, Health, Safety, Security, Environmental (QHSSE) and Risk Management professional, Graham has a broad understanding of many workplace risks and required controls across a wide range of industries including forestry, agriculture & farming, construction, manufacturing, IT, infrastructure and Māori enterprise.

Graham is a proponent of the “whole of business safety approach” where management and employees work collaboratively towards a Zero Harm and Environmental Sustainability goal. He possesses strong quality assessment skills which enable him to quickly assimilate a company’s safety culture and risk management processes to find cost-effective and common-sense solutions.

Brent O'Bell

Brent is an enthusiastic health and safety generalist who is just as happy in the boardroom undertaking complex compliance audit preparation discussions or onsite presenting a toolbox talk.

He has vast experience in residential and civil construction, the transport industry, as well as a variety of other health and safety related applications including but not limited to ISO audit preparation, OHSMS system preparation, site audits, general risk assessments and compliance advice.

Brent is a HASANZ registered professional, with the following accreditations:

  • Diploma Workplace Health and Safety management (level 6)
  • Nebosh International General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health(distinction)
  • ISO 45001:2018, ISO:14001 2015, ISO:9001:2015 Lead Auditor Certified

He is currently completing a Masters in Applied Management. He is an empathetic, knowledgeable and reliable consultant who is continually striving to make a difference and add high value results for his customers.

Janice Norman-Oke

Janice Norman-Oke has been a Securo Safety Consultant since 2007 and is the Otago Southland area representative. She studied Law and Psychology at Otago University and after graduating in 2002 worked as a litigation lawyer for 5 years, with experience in Criminal, Employment and ACC cases.

Janice developed an interest in Health & Safety after becoming a mother to three small children and living on a lifestyle block.  She loves to help her Clients create their own health safety systems and create safe working environments for their employees.

Due to her background in law, Janice brings a unique perspective to the Securo team in her ability to explain complex matters in simple everyday terms.
