Securo - Changes to ACC
Effective from the 1st April 2011 ACC has introduced Experience Rating to the calculation of ACC premium levies for employers and the self-employed.
ACC Minister Nick Smith says it will make ACC premium levies fairer and provide better incentives for business to improve workplace safety.
If an employers’ claims experience is better than the average peer group employer they will get the benefit of higher premium levy discounts, however if their claims experience is worse than the average peer group employer they could receive loadings of up to 50%.
Alongside Experience Rating, which will be mandatory, ACC will continue to run the voluntary programmes (WSMP and WSD) that provide a levy discount in the 10% to 20% range to firms which can demonstrate they have sound health and safety practices and standards.
